St. Stephen Area Chamber of Commerce 20th Annual General Meeting and Dinner - Feb. 16, 2011


The 20th Annual General meeting and dinner was held at the Milltown Legion on February 16, 2011. The evening was sponsored by the Business Development Bank of Canada, Deloitte & Touche LLP, Cooke Aquaculture, McInnes Cooper, Beers Neal LLP, CBDC Charlotte-Kings, Humphreys Funeral Home, Rogers Stove Shop and St. Croix Printing & Publishing Co. Ltd. President Geoff Knight welcomed everyone to the dinner and thanked the above sponsors. The evening started off with the singing of “O Canada” followed by grace with Allan Gillmor.

Everyone then enjoyed a prime rib dinner prepared by the Milltown Ladies Auxiliary. After dinner Jason Rideout thanked the following businesses for donating door prizes,
Charlotte County Credit Union, Cox Electronics & Communications, Ganong Bros. Ltd., Sea of Tranquility Day Spa & Boutique, Sticks & Stones Fabricating Inc. and
The Wool Emporium.

President Knight then asked for approval of AGM minutes from 2010. Kris Amos then read off the Treasurer’s report for 2010 and asked for approval of the budget. Geoff Knight addressed members with the President’s report for 2010.

Geoff then asked past president Shelley McKeeman from the nominating committee to read off this year’s nominees for President and 1st Vice-President and ask for any nominations from the floor. Shelley then announced the new executive committee for 2011:

Shelley then asked James Mosher from McInnes Cooper to swear in the new President and Vice-President.

Past President Geoff Knight then asked if there was any new business and Richard Fulton gave an update on the Charlotte County Civic Centre.

President Rideout then introduced the guest speaker Bob Cheatley, President of St. Stephen’s University.
Bob spoke to the Chamber members and President Rideout then presented Bob with a donation to the St. Stephen’s University as a thank you gift.
